Lou Mortillaro: I started my career in mortgage banking in a finance leadership role, where secondary marketing activity had a major influence on every financial decision I made. That industry is extremely sensitive to interest rate movement, and even small changes can impact valuations, hedging outcomes, securitisation, and the value of servicing assets. I grew up professionally in an environment where rate movement shows up in the P&L immediately, not theoretically.
"Part of my job is to make sure these companies meet their liquidity needs, satisfy financial security requirements, and invest their assets responsibly."
For the past seven years, I have been the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Dealer Owned Warranty Company (DOWC). I oversee finance, data, and the technology that supports more than 300 small insurance captives across multiple states and foreign domiciles.

I am not an economist. I am simply a practical, data-driven operator trying to put money in the right place for real businesses.
