Andrew Putwain: Could you introduce yourself and your role?

Diane Young: I’m the Chief Investment Officer at Gore Mutual, a mid-sized property and casualty (P&C) insurer headquartered in Ontario. My career spans over twenty-five years in institutional asset management, primarily within fixed income.

Before joining Gore, I was a Portfolio Manager at an asset manager, where I oversaw mandates for insurance companies – both life and P&C – as well as pension plans and foundations. At Gore, I am responsible for strategic asset allocation, investment planning, governance, and oversight of a portfolio valued at approximately $1 billion.

Our investment philosophy is grounded in long-term sustainability while managing short-term volatility. We prioritise sound governance and responsible stewardship, aligning our investment practices with the company’s broader commitment to policyholder protection.

While we delegate security selection to external managers, we maintain oversight of mandates and manager conduct, ensuring alignment with our fiduciary and regulatory obligations.
